Raoul Dufy

Raoul Dufy was born at Le Havre, in Normandy, and began his art studies when he was 18 at Le Havre École des Beaux-Arts.

Influences of impressionistic landscapes and cubism led in 1920 to Dufy's distinctive approach involving skeletal structures, arranged in a diminished perspective, and the use of light washes of colour put on by swift brush strokes in a manner that came to be known as stenographic.
Dufy's cheerful oils and watercolours depict yachting scenes and sparkling views of the French Riviera. His work has been described as optimistic and fashionably decorative.

This art is presented on a fine grade of heavy paper and is beautifully suited for framing. An elegant choice for boat lovers.

Regata by Raoul Dufy. Paper size 20" x 16", $15.00.
